Reason for this alert

The locking pin was not installed during assembly. (Fewer than 0.01% of swivelling carabiners are affected.)

The Hazard

Without this pin, the connecting bolt can gradually unscrew during normal use.

What you should do

  1. Find every unit of the products above, including spares, kits and units issued to crews.
  2. Inspect each unit before use. Confirm the swivel pin is present, as in the right-hand photo.
  3. Remove from service any unit with a missing pin (or if there is any doubt). Tag it "Do not use" and keep it for return. Do not attempt to repair or modify tethers.
  4. If you cannot inspect a unit, do not use it until it can be inspected.
  5. Contact GRIPPS with the product code, date code, quantity and location so we can arrange a replacement. Please also report any dropped object incident or near miss.
